More bandwidth means more revenue for the Arizona Grand Resort.

BACKGROUND

The Arizona Grand Resort’s switch to Cox Business came after it ended a 20-year relationship with a legacy provider. “As the resort grew and technology advanced, we began to experience problems with our data and phone circuits,” explains Jose C. Garcia, the resort’s director of IT. The Arizona Grand Resort needed new technology to keep pace. Its legacy Internet service provider refused to make the upgrade without significant cost.

SOLUTIONS

“Cox Business stepped up to the plate when our former Internet carrier was sitting in the dugout, not willing to come out.” Garcia adds, “Cox Business cut open the asphalt, built a new fiber conduit and did it for free.” Once construction began, it was a fast transformation taking just weeks from groundbreaking to light up. “They came in, did what they said they would do, were honest, up-front and were very fair,” reflects Garcia. “Everyone from the construction team kept me in the loop. They were very professional and as invisible as they possibly could be. I was extremely pleased,” he adds.

RESULTS

More bandwidth means more meeting space revenue for the Arizona Grand Resort. Winner of the Gold Key by Meetings & Conventions magazine, the newly renovated luxury resort increased its Internet speed from 3M to 100M by replacing a legacy carrier’s old copper connection with a Cox Business super-fast fiber connection. “Now we can host large technology groups without any issues and provide plenty of bandwidth,” says Garcia.

“What it comes down to is that we now have the flexibility for bandwidth-hungry groups and we can compete in the market. Very few properties have this much bandwidth.” Adds Garcia, “Cox Business has given us the flexibility to seamlessly expand to 10G when needed.”

The Arizona Grand Resort also switched its phone service to Cox Business from the same legacy provider because, “I felt like we were just a value on the P&L for them,” says Garcia. Cox Business brought in all of its own equipment and took a much smaller footprint. “They also consolidated the resort’s local and long distance service – which had been split. We realized a savings of about $500 per month on the phone side with Cox Business,” says Garcia.

Getting to know the business side of Cox just made sense for Garcia, who has had Cox TV, Internet and phone in his home for more than 10 years. “I’ve known about Cox’s data speeds, quality and customer service so there was no hesitation for me when the resort needed an upgrade.” Adds Garcia, “I’d highly recommend them and would use them again in a heartbeat.” In fact, because of the Arizona Grand Resort’s experience with Cox Business, its sister property, the Inn at Laguna Beach, has also upgraded its business Internet services and switched to Cox Business.
