O'Neil Printing got a faster connection that costs 40% less
BACKGROUND
In business since 1908, O'Neil Printing is a full-service printer with complete bindery, mailing and fulfillment services. Mark Layton, O'Neil's director of technical services, knew they needed increased bandwidth to transfer a higher volume of extremely large files between vendors and customers.
O'Neil’s previous telecom vendor provided an expensive 5M line that could barely support two file transfers at a time before there was slowing. Layton says he gets sales calls all the time and generally has no interest. But, when Cox Business promised a different, faster solution that would save O’Neil money, Layton decided to listen.
SOLUTIONS
The O’Neil building wasn’t previously served by Cox Business, but after assessing the opportunity to work with O’Neil, Cox Business extended their network to the O’Neil building at no cost.
“Cox Business did all the legwork up front. They figured out what we were paying and when our contract expired. I haven’t had a single concern. This was obviously not their first rodeo,” says Layton. “Ultimately, there were three reasons we made the switch to Cox Business. We like to do business with people we do business with. It was less expensive and much faster.
Layton still had to sell the switch to Cox Business to his boss. But, when he got to the meeting he said to his boss, “I don’t even know why I’m sitting with you. There’s nothing to discuss. With Cox Business, we’ll spend so much less to get so much more. It’s literally a no-brainer.” O’Neil moved both its Internet and phone services to Cox Business at a savings of more than 40% compared to their previous provider.
RESULTS
“On our old line, people would be transferring files all day. Two people would be sending and three would be trying to hop on our file transfer site and there was degradation for those connections,” says Layton. Cox Business installed a 50M connection for O’Neil. Says Layton, “The new Cox Business Internet service is 10 times as fast and we’re able to transfer 20 files simultaneously without slowing.” Plus, for O’Neil’s 10 employees who telecommute, they now have a more responsive remote experience as they’re able to upload files 10 times faster than they could before on a more reliable, uncongested, fully redundant network.
